Research

We theoretically study the properties of small objects far from equilibrium and the physics of complex dynamical systems.

Our research focuses on (i) the investigation of quantum (and classical) nonequilibrium dynamics and the theory of open quantum systems (Lutz), and  on (ii) the exploration of the physics of complex dynamical systems (Main/Wunner). Topics of interest include (i) the study of quantum thermodynamics and quantum machines, information theory and nonergodic statistical physics (Lutz), as well as (ii) Parity-Time symmetry in quantum and classical physics, quantum field theory in strong magnetic fields with applications to astrophysics and cosmology, and chaos theory (Main/Wunner).
