Contents

The lecture is intended as an introduction to the concepts and methods of theoretical quantum optics. It will emphasize the connection between theory and experiment and discuss recent literature. The following topics will be covered:

  1. Quantization of the electromagnetic field
  2. Quantum states of light
  3. Coherence properties
  4. Photon statistics
  5. Casimir effect
  6. Atom-photon interaction
  7. Open quantum systems
  8. Decoherence
